I was born and raised in a small town near Birmingham, Alabama, where I graduated from a Christian high school, then Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I spent nearly 20 years at UAB as a health care practitioner, professor and researcher, then joined a practice in Cullman. As my husband and I spent more time in Cullman, we fell in love with everything about it. We were drawn to Cullman’s rare blend of diversity, harmony and opportunity, joined a local church, and after becoming empty-nesters, moved to Cullman and never looked back!

Our children are now scattered from Nashville to Tampa, but Cullman is their preferred hub for holidays and birthdays, weekends at Smith Lake, and historic Ave Maria Grotto. The North Alabama Agriplex, annual Strawberry and Bloomin’ Festivals, Oktoberfest and Christkindlmarkt are always a hit—and of course, Rock The South! 

Cullman is the ideal small town with big spaces, rich culture, top schools, and the best shops, restaurants and entertainment. Situated between Birmingham and Huntsville, Cullman has become a popular homestead for commuters to both cities.

Founded by German immigrants in 1873, Cullman now boasts a population of over 20,000 and is ranked as one of the top ‘micropolitan’ cities in the nation. It is a great place to raise a family, grow a business, retire, or just kick back for a while.
